Got to see Daniel Johnston performing live at Warsaw in Broolyn ( thanks, Terence!)
He shed some new light on Beatles classics like Help! and I'm So Tired.
If you don't know his music or his amazing story check out the documentary called The Devil And Daniel Johnston.
Take the What Book Are You quiz and tell me what you get and if it's accurate for you, too!
(Thanks Lance!)
Watching the fireworks in the rain turned out really cool. We all crept onto the roof of a Greenpoint building and had a great view. Seeing all the people on the other rooftops with their umbrellas made it extra special, it was like seeing Mary Poppins minus the annoying child actors. See the pretty pictures?! I'll post a video soon, too.
Summer is here. I wore my flip flips on a short walk yesterday. havaiana's in the city.
A classic view - I intend to spend more afternoons at Coney Island this summer to take some photos before it dissapeares or looses its charm to some luxury condominium complexes.
How well does your name Google? Who are you up against? (Celebrities, etc.)
Submitted by Matt Blank.
Thanks for asking!
my name is too unusual so it's pages and pages of my own web meanderings that come up but the
coolest thing is what is #1 when you google ' hello mica'
Sorry for all the parenthetical annotation. It's a lazy way to write, I know, but, I am tired. goodnight.
Link: Find someone on Vox who has the same name as yours. Any similarities?
Wow, Vox! While there is never a shortage of M-i-c-a-h's, M-i-c-a's are few and far between.
So, I was surprised to find, this kid (although I suppose it could be a nickname or something)
Anyways, we already have tons in common! Besides the name, he has a blog on Vox, he apparently is a young attractive kid (or obsessed with one - either way, same as me!), he has hair (in the pictures), and um.. likes (according to his listed interests)
I think, I'll add him to my neighborhood!
Us M-i-c-a's do have a tendency to seek out and stalk others of our namesake...
ok, Sorry Mica kid, just hacing fun. I seriously won't be contacting you in any other way.
'What's the first image that comes up when you Google your name?'
Mica = Flakey Mineral
Mica Scalin = Pink
( actually it's a very random screengrab from my videoblog of some old-ass pink tights up close, gross)
Movie of the week: The Conversation - a 1975 film by Francis Ford Coppola. Z selected it on the recomendation of our Netflix.com acccount. Netflix is becoming an even better service, it's web2.0-ness is well implemented and useful. Anyways, The Conversation is so very good. It is the kind of movie that reminds me what I like about movies. I might even say inspiring.. It's a lot like another inspiringly-great classic movie, Blow-up. But instead of being about a photographer it's about a survelience expert, and surveilance in the 1970's pretty much meant audio recording. However, this film is far more understated (no-nekid-model go-go-dance sequences ) and besides the quaintly outdated technology it presents issues of conspiracy and privacy on a personal and political level that are still relevant today as they were when it came out, right after Watergate. I personally enjoyed all the close-ups of 'hi-tech' reel-to-reels audio tape recorders with big giant dials. I love Gene Hackman and the way he plays this character is pitch perfect.
It also features a very young Harrison Ford and Teri Garr!
